Christian Dating For Christian Singles - What Rules Apply?
Christian dating is dating involving Christian singles. These young Christians seek
a life partner with whom they can share their love and faith forever.
|
However, the Christian way is one of chastity. This applies to every aspect of the
life of Christians including Christian dating.
How do you date and still remain faithful? What rules apply?
First, what is dating? What is it meant to accomplish?
|
The purpose of dating is to get to know or identify your future partner amongst the
mass of single girls around you.
Therefore in rudimentary terms, Christian dating is the process where Christian singles seek
to know more about Christian members of the opposite sex with the intention of getting
married to one that is compatible with their personality.
From this definition, some points stand out.
1. For the Christian, the sole purpose of dating is to identify the Christian single
who matches your needs and then get married to her. That means, dating is not for you
if you're not ready for marriage.
|
2. Dating is between members of the opposite sex. This prohibits same sex marriage
because homosexuality is against the Christian faith. It is a crime against God.
3. Dating is between Christian singles. A Christian who marries a worldly person
risk losing his faith. Iron sharpens iron. A Christian sharpens a Christian.
Therefore a Christian marries only a Christian to preserve his faith. Otherwise
the worldly mate may sway the Christian mate from his faith.
|
The bible clearly states that God will judge fornicators and adulterers. And that
fornicators and homosexuals will not enter God's kingdom.
For the Christian, this implies that Christian dating must be done with the utmost care
and dignity.
So, what rules apply?
1. Do not get romantic
2. Do not hold hands or pet and neck
3. Do not stay alone in isolated places. Don't lead yourself to temptation.
4. Do not tell a Christian single you want to marry him or her until you're sure
5. Engage in activities together that includes other people
6. Be honest with each other
7. Take a chaperon along when you visit your partner. The presence of a third person
often freezes temptations and immoral advances.
8. Discuss serious marital issues
9. Discuss your faith. For example, what are the spiritual goals of your prospective
partner?
10. Do not date more than one person at the same time (worldly people call this "testing
the waters")
11. Invite God to join your relationship to make it fruitful
As a Christian engaging in Christian dating you're likely concerned whether the woman
or man you finally choose will be the right person for you.
Discuss your concerns with your mate and resolve issues that arise together.
Christian singles, maintain your chastity. Let everything you do including Christian
dating bring praise to God and honor his name.
