I Have Been Unkind To This Guy. But He Keeps Coming Back. Why?

I met a guy just over a year ago. He was very attentive and respectful and after a long time he told me he liked me.

I didn't like him and was very unkind about it - which i'm not proud of. He left for a while and come back about six months later.

Again I was unfair to him but recently he has been in touch again. I don't understand why he keeps coming back.

Does he actually like me or am I just another notch in the bedpost that he is determined to get?
