My boyfriend won't say the L word

I've been with my boyfriend for almost a year now and he has done everything to make me fall in love with him and has made that very clear.

I have told him that I love him and the only thing he can say to me is That's nice or That's good.

He has told other people that we know as mutual friends that he is totally in love with me but won't tell me that.

We got into a fight one time and he said to me that he told his self 10 years ago that he would never tell another women those words again.

I don't understand why I have to pay for his ex's mistakes and never hear him tell me that he loves me.

What do I do?
