My First Love of 4 Years Broke Up With Me.

My girlfriend of 3 and a half years broke up with me 3 weeks ago. She was 18 and right out of high school and i was 21 when we first met.

I was her first boyfriend and lover and she was my first girlfriend or lover. She told me she needs to be alone and that she started dating me right out of high school and that she doesnt know who she is.

She doesnt really have good friends outside of me except her best friend that moved away for college. I guess her reason makes sense to me in a way, but i realize mistakes i have made as well.

I wasnt doing anything to improve my life (I live with my dad and I'm a waiter) while she was in school trying to figure out what she wanted to do.

She tried to motivate me to do something more but anytime she brought up the subject i would get irritated and not listen to her. Now that she is gone I can see that my life isn't so great. I am going back to school to try to figure out what i want to do.

I want her back, but part of me thinks that i was never a long term guy in her mind and she just wanted the experience of dating. How long should I wait for her?

I am giving her space but we are keeping some contact (1 hour phone conversation and some text messages).

Does it sound like I can get her back?
