One Year Relationship - Days Go By without Calls

I have been in a very good relationship with a man, he is everthing I could want in a man. Except for one thing. He sometimes goes 3 days to a week without calling or showing up.

I become obsessive in trying to find out where he is or why he is not calling.

He works a lot and has an avoidance issue.

He assures me that he just needs time to work and gets caught up in his life. Promises he won't do it again, but always does.

Why does he do this?
