The Power of Love

The power of love is compelling. When you're in the grip of love, nothing matters but your love. You're prepared to sacrifice anything to keep you love. You're determined to be with the one you love no matter the odds.

However, Jedidiah had strong feelings for Sheila. He was completely overwhelmed by the power of love. What should he do?

He opted to leave his country and his religion behind. He was in love and he couldn't possibly abandon his love because some rabbi said so.

Consequently, he moved to a foreign country with his sweetheart. There they got married and lived as they wished.

Cultural Barriers

Some cultural and ethnic beliefs stand in the way of love. But the power of love is unstoppable. Love breaks down those barriers.

Consider an example.

In one African society, a group of indigenes are referred to as Osu.

Members of the Osu lineage were considered outcasts and therefore were forbidden by tradition from participating in certain facets of community life.

For example, it was an abomination for an Osu to marry a freeborn. All of the children from the relationship would be classified as outcasts and suffer the same painful life of a society outcast.

It was therefore a taboo for a freeborn to marry from an Osu family.

Frank knew all about the tradition and respected it.

As fate would have it, he had a chance meeting with Eunice at the village stream and was blown away by her subtlety and pleasantness.

He was in love! This woman was made just for him!

Unfortunately, he found out too late that she was from an Osu family. His family stuck by the tradition. No son of theirs will marry from the dreaded Osu family.

However, Frank was not to be persuaded. He was in love with Eunice and he would not be limited by some achaic tradition that belonged to the dark age.

Frank was unmistakably in the power of love .

Love won. Frank and his lover sneaked out of the village to the city where the got married against the wishes of Frank's parents.

The Power of Love Is Mesmerizing

But is love worth all the trouble?

Yes, it is.

When true love connects two people, they are happier. They enjoy life. They have loving campanionship and fulfillment. And the sacrifices they have to make to keep the relationship pales into insignificance.

However, if you make all of those sacrifices for someone who eventually jilts you, you will end up sad, heartbroken, and broken.

Consequently, it is important that you make sure what you have is true love.

Why?

Well, if what you feel is some childish crush or unbending infatuation, you will end up hurting yourself and those you love.

The power of love is overwhelming, yes. But you can channel it for good.

How?

Fall in love the right way. Learn from others' mistakes. Do not rush in. Be absolutely sure that your partner feels the same way about the relationship.

You are making sacrifices to have the relationship. He should do the same for you.
