Wedding Budget - How Much Can You Afford To Spend?
Your wedding budget should be a function of your pocket. That is only natural.
That is the sensible thing to do.
|
Unfortunately, many couples think differently when making their wedding plans. They
plan big, buy expensive stuff, spend lavishly, and end up in debt.
Why do many couples-to-be cast aside common sense when planning their wedding?
|
Often it is the desire to impress guests. There is also the feeling that "this is the most
important day of my life. So, I have to make it special . . . memorable".
Consequently, in an attempt to make their wedding 'special' and 'memorable', these
couples spend well above their ability and end up borrowing to foot the bill.
This kind of thinking can start your marriage on the wrong foot.
Make no mistake about it. Your wedding budget is absolutely important. It can make
you happy after the wedding day or turn your marriage into a burden.
To illustrate. A couple appeared on a popular talk show. They were on the verge of
divorce.
Why?
Debt. The man was in debt and his wife was also in debt. And the debt started from
the wedding dress and the wedding rings. The wife wanted the best wedding dress
she could lay her hands on even though they couldn't afford it.
|
One thing led to another. One debt led to another. And before long, they were both
in serious debt. And this choked the love they had for each other. Next step?
Divorce.
May this never happen to you!
|
Plan your wedding with careful consideration. Buy the things you really need . . . things
you can afford.
This is not saying you cannot have a celebrity kind of wedding. You can if you can afford
it. If you can't afford it, don't live in fools paradise.
So, what's your wedding budget?
Keep it within reach. Keep it simple. Keep it real.
