What Is Love?

What is love? This is a question I have heard asked again and again. Many people confuse kindness and etiquette for love. This is not love. So, what is love?

Love is a special attachment to a member of the opposite sex. It is a longing to be with that special man who touches your senses in a special way.

Men fall in love as much as women do. But to simplify this discussion, I will simply talk in terms of a woman falling in love.

You must understand that there are different kinds of love. You have brother sister

love, family members love, neighborly love, and many more. But here we are discussing romantic love.

What is love . . . what is romantic love?

[Love Dictionary - Define Love In Your Own Terms]

Romantic love isn't simply about romance. It is love that engenders affection, tenderness, and the strongest of passion.

In the real world romantic love is simply referred to as love. Therefore this discussion will simply call it love.

Now, let's summarize this.

What is love?

1. Love is a romantic attachment to a member of the opposite sex

2. Love is a longing to be with and please your man

3. Love is affectionate and tender relationship with a man

4. Love engenders a desire to spend the rest of your life with this one person. It is a desire for a permanent long-term relationship with this special man

5. Love is forgiving. Love compels you to overlook the errors of your lover

6. Love sees only the positive

Is love blind?

No.

It is true that love makes you focus on the positives of your partner. Consequently, you tend to work to build on his strengths rather than amplify his weaknesses.

However, this does not mean you do not know his weaknesses. You recognize his limitations and seek to help him make desired changes.

You love him. You want to be with him. You want to spend the rest of your life with him. But you also know he's not everything you want him to be. Love requires that you demand that he change.

But suppose you know he's a criminal but refuse to talk about it with him for fear you may lose him. Is this love?

Certainly it isn't.

Suppose you know he is not criminal in nature but has character flaws that can undermine your relationship. Friends and family tell you about it but you don't want to hear it. Your only concern is that you love him and you don't want to lose him. Is this love? Obviously, it isn't.

Love is so mesmerizing that it can get you carried away. Therefore, what is love, is a question you must constantly seek to answer.

Someday you will fall in love and scream, Im in love!

It will happen sooner or later. But when it does, you must ask yourself: What is love? Am I really in love?

It's so easy to think you're in love when indeed you're consumed by infatuation or blind love.

The truth is . . . true love is realistic. True love is not blind. True love is not unrealistically dogmatic.

  • Love acknowledges difficulties and faces them head-on.
  • Love is truthful. If you truly love your man, you will be honestly truthful with him
  • Love makes sacrifices. Really you can't be in love without being willing to pay the price

    What is love?

It is the single ingredient that makes life worth living. Love stays in the face of trials and tribulation. Love is sharing and caring, affectionate and considerate. True love is everlasting love.

Indeed, love is everything. If you haven't found love, you're missing big time.
