Why can I not forget my first Love

I am unable to forget my first love. Why?

Due to family disagreement. We were not married. He thinks that for not being selfish, and because of my indecisiveness, he had to make another decision, of marrying another girl, which his family had chosen for him.

Now I ask myself is it wrong for not being selfish? Do I have to pay such a big price?

I cannot fall in love again. I cannot love the father of my Son. I search my first love in him. What do I do? Please advice me.

I have not seen him for 8 years. I did have telephone contact with him. I cannot stop loving him. I do pray to God to help me. Why can I not forget my first love.

I'm afraid.
